Little Gems - Lizzie Dripping Tries a Spell
Lizzie is minding her own business thinking about the witch when her mother calls her to the house. Aunt Blodwen and Jonathon are there and Patty (Lizzie's mother) does not look pleased. Jonathon has told aunt Blodwen everything about the pond episode. Patty did not know about the soaking Lizzie got and is furious to find that Gramma was also behind the cover up. Jonathon is left with Lizzie to play with but Lizzie is not having any of it. She is furious that he told Blodwen everything. She decides to leave him and go off and find the witch. When she finally finds her she asks the witch if she could be taught a spell. The witch agrees but that a forfeit must be payed. That forfeit agreed by Lizzie is to climb to the very seventh bough of Adam's tree and retrieve a small cluster of leaves. Lizzie tries to make out that it will be difficult to do but really she knows it can easily be accomplished.
Lizzie goes off to pay the forfeit and finds that Jonathon has actually started climbing the tree. He appears to be stuck and asks her to come and help. Lizzie climbs up (yes - Tina actually climbs up the tree unaided - one continuous camera shot) and retrieves the leaves the witch wanted. However she too gets stuck with Jonathon up the tree. While they are waiting Jonathon admits that he was responsible for letting the boat go on the pond. Lizzie is absolutely furious with him as she thought it was the witch. Still she has some revenge as Jonathon has ripped his trousers and Lizzie knows that Aunt Blodwen will be very angry with him when he returns home. Eventually Albert walks passed the tree as he has a guttering job to do. He sees the children and gets his ladder to help them down.
