The Magic Ball - The Story of the Chimneysweep

Sam was at Aunt Mill's shop and sitting on the floor reading about the terrible life that chimneysweeps endured. He was very angry to hear that they got very little pay and no holidays. Before he could even say anything, the Magic Ball took him to where the little chimneysweep lived. There Sam found the poor chimneysweep who explained his problem.

Sam is readinga book about life as a chimney sweep Sam is outraged at the terrible conditions The Magic Ball takes Sam to find out a little more

Sam decided to go with him and look for himself as to what the problem was. Sure enough, at the first house they stopped at, the person who lived inside was very unfriendly. The poor sweep and to clean the chimney and got everything covered in soot. The Magic Ball instantly sprang into action and cleaned everywhere. The Ball then cleaned each and every chimney in the little town.

Sam meets the chimney sweep The small town has dozens of chimneys to sweep and cleaned The sweep takes Sam to a local house

The owner is not very friendly The sweep shows Sam how to do the job He connects the pipe cleaners together

It is a very dirty job The whole room gets dirty The Magic Ball decides to help out

The little sweep was overjoyed as it meant he could take his first ever day off and see some of things he had been missing. He watched a parade going down the street and then took part in it himself. He later went down to the seaside, a place he had never been before.

All the town's chimneys are cleaned by the Magic Ball The Ball then returns to Sam The sweep is able to take a day off and watch the parade

The sweep is very happy with his day off Both he and Sam join in the march An organ grinder man appears

There they met an organ grinder with a performing monkey. They had a lot of fun watching the creature. The then decided to go down to the beach and change into their swimming costumes. they went out into the sea for a splash. The chimneysweep saw a huge sailing ship and everyone clapped and cheered when they saw it as it was the newest and fastest ship in the fleet. Sam told the chimneysweep of even faster ships called rockets. The chimneysweep could hardly believe his ears.

Sam and the sweep go to watch The man has a small monkey doing tricks Sam likes the little monkey

Next , the sweep and Sam go down to the beach The change clothes and go for a swim They stop and watch as a large sailing ship goes by

The pair then went onto the warm sand and built a huge sand castle. they then floated a small wooden boat and had a great load of fun. Pretty soon the Magic Ball activated and Sam found himself back in the shop. The page in the book had, as expected, changed and the little sweep was there in his swimming costume having a day of fun on the beach.

The sweep has never seen the like before The local crowd clap and cheer as they watch the ship Sam and the swep build a sand castle together

They then have fun in the sea Sam returns to the shop and looks again at the book The page now shows the sweep smiling and having fun on his day off

At the back of the shop Aunt Mill appeared and asked Sam "where had he been ?" to which Sam replied "Nowhere much."

Aunt Mill arrives
