Once Upon A Time Man - Episode One
The story starts with the creation of our world some five billion years ago (creationists should stop reading now). Time shows us the next stages of the first life (although in fact it evades the actual creation of life). Naturally it begins ion the oceans and then life moves from single cells to multicellular organisms. Eventually we move onto some the most simple of sea creatures, jellyfish, clams, mussels etc.
Things then move forward at a very fast rate towards the Permian Triassic period. Back around 250million years ago something happened which wiped life out on a mass scale. Some life forms though did survive and they moved onto form the first dinosaurs. The first primates / ape like creatures appeared around 60million years ago which was after the time of most of the dinosaurs.
The story then moves onto to show primitives learning to use rocks to smash open nuts. Here we see the first of many characters that appear regularly in the series...Peter, Jumbo and the Maestro himself.
The primitives even start to draw on walls of the caves they inhabit. Time then shows us we are now at 700000. A lot has changed from the 5 Billion years to the current time.
